A report concerning the major public services networks
which are offering potentialities for applications related to Information Society. These
networks are often called “alternative networks”.
The report will focus on the transmission infrastructure
owned by firms, administrations or local authorities (except historical operator) e.g
railways, companies, highways, energy utilities, water or gas suppliers, canals. The
regulatory constraints and entry barriers will be also described.
