What
is it?
One of the central
activities of the ESIS Initiative is to build the database
of Information Society Projects.

What
is the Definition
of Information Society Project ?
Information Society
projects use data processing and telecommunications technologies to
support innovative methods of communication between members of society
for a wide range of purposes (e.g. education and training, healthcare
and social care, culture, administration, industry and commerce, research
& development, etc.)."
Projects of this
type will generally be interactive (two-way communication between users
and systems or among users) and involve remote access (with users and
systems able to communicate over a distance). Projects may have a societal
dimension or will possibly serve as a model for other organisations
and businesses.
How
the Database is Compiled?
The national contractors
in all 25 countries that are covered with ESIS II, will:
- distribute the
questionnaire to project actors ;
- assist project
leaders in filling in the questionnaire ;
- collect those
questionnaires ;
- enter data on
the national database on a designated format ;
- up-date information
already recorded into the database.
The questionnaire
is divided into 7 parts:
- Project overview
- Partnership
- Project profile
- Project financial
aspects
- Links with other
projects
- Call for ideas
- Consent for inclusion.
On the bases of
returned questionnaire's there will be a national database built. All
the data in national database will be included in the central database
of ESIS initiative every three months.
