The survey is a part of ESIS II project, financed by the European Commission. During the survey several reports are produced describing information society developments in Estonia and other European countries. There will also a be comprehensive database of information society projects, actions and contacts established. Read more about the project...

On this official webpage of ESIS II in Estonia, the results of the survey will be presented.

1. Reports

During the implementation of ESIS II Estonian Team will prepare eight kinds of reports. The structure and the contents of the reports will be as following:

Regulatory developments report

This report deals with the major regulatory developments impacting the development of the Information Society. Overall telecommunications policy, institutional structures, international relationships and agreements and regulatory framework will be described (including the status of liberalisation, licensing). Freedom and protection issues in the telecommunications area and information society policies will be also covered as well as overall market situation.

IS promotional activities

This report includes a quarterly inventory and a description of all major actions /initiatives undertaken at national or regional level to promote the Information Society developments.

Key persons contacts and organisations

An overview of key persons (with their contacts) and organisations responsible for the processing and management of questions and issues with respect to the Information Society created. .

Existing major network facilities in public utilities

A report concerning the major public services networks which are offering potentialities for applications related to Information Society. These networks are often called “alternative networks”.

The report focuses on the transmission infrastructure owned by firms, administrations or local authorities (except historical operator) e.g railways, companies, highways, energy utilities, water or gas suppliers, canals. The regulatory constraints and entry barriers will be also described.

Statistical analysis of the IS projects included in the databases

A statistical report which highlights the major findings and conclusions from the progress of the inventory to-date. The reports are based on the ESIS Project database.

WWW sites indicators

This action line includes giving a statistical overview of the WWW-pages developments i.e. an estimation of the number of Web sites developed by relevant categories of actors, such as schools, universities, hospitals, etc.

Estimation of number of IS projects

An overview report giving an estimate of the total number of Information Society projects.

Basic technology indicators

The basic indicators of Information Society developments in Estonia. These basic indicators are key parameters providing an overview of the status of the telecommunications network development and use of ICT.

2. Project Database

A database of Information Society projects, promotional activities, key persons and organizations.
